What We Give - The Exhibition
During the past year many of us have struggled with pandemic-related challenges. How do we go on with our new, constrained lives? How do we live within the boundaries of increasing restrictions? How much more do we have to give up?
These are not new questions, however, for people living with physical or mental challenges, including HIV/AIDS. They know what it means to rise above. To not be defined by. To live every day in the face of adversity. To endure.
This exhibition seeks to explore work by and about individuals living with physical or mental challenges—how they continue to give when so much has been taken from them. Some works in the exhibition present celebrations of the human spirit while others are portraits of loss. Still others examine the role of “family” who share these lives.
The exhibition opening will include a brief reading from a new novel by Provincetown resident, Randi Triant. What We Give, What We Take is the coming-of-age story about a disabled man living in Provincetown with a man dying of AIDS. The reading will be followed by an artist talk and Q and A. Copies of the book will be available at East End Books Ptown.
