Artist statement:
I am Boston and Provincetown based, and have been developing my painting skills for the past decade. Mostly self-taught, the subject of my art is focused on seascapes and landscapes using oil on canvas. My fascination with light, moody skies, and stormy weather reflect my experience of Cape Cod coastal life and the landscapes and architecture of small town New England.
My love for painting has evolved over the years, however, I stayed true to the tonal impressionist technique of my original passion. Throughout the pandemic, I worked as a registered nurse in a busy level one trauma hospital in Boston. Being on the frontlines, I often witnessed challenging situations involving sadness and pain mixed with fear. This created a strong longing for the calmness, warmth and solitude that Cape Cod scenery often provides, and my art uses this as a basis to interweave dreams and reality into one subject matter with the goal to create warmth and calmness in the eye of the beholder.
My featured art work in this exhibition, the Great Point Lighthouse, was entered into a thematic competition “Through Hopper’s Lens” at the Copley Society of Art in 2023.
