"Crossings", as a title emerged from gazing across Cape Cod Bay from North Truro at Provincetown and from my repeated walks across the Brooklyn Bridge.  As I thought more about the word “Crossing” and selected these paintings I realized that this is thematic of what I am drawn to and what I choose to paint.

I have always prided my self on my ability to cross boundaries reaching across cultures, disciplines, institutions and industries to learn, build alliances and engage with others.

Whether it is looking across to another shore, crossing a field, exploring a new country or breaking a rule or cultural norm, the experience of crossing is one of taking a chance, exploring, reexamining the past, expanding horizons, experiencing the new and maximizing opportunity.

I hope you find that each painting I have included provides an expanded view of place, culture and perspective.

I am a landscape and figurative artist committed to developing awareness of self and others through visual imagery. I believe that our enhancing awareness allows us to better connect to the natural world and to each other. I am interested in how perception, language, imagery and culture shape who we are and how we see each other and the world around us.
