What: ALTER EGO - new body of work by Donna Pomponio

Alter Ego: Finding One’s Other Self. The term alter ego may be applied to the
role or persona taken on by an actor or by other types of performers. The
altered states of the ego may themselves be referred to as alterations
(Wikipedia Alter Ego article excerpt).

In this case, the alterations of the attire – hand-painted, embellished,
restructured & refitted - inspired the models to connect with their alter egos, in
turn, inspiring me to capture it all in my latest iteration of the human condition.

Additional paintings emerged half way through my preparation for Alter Ego
to reveal the emotional interplay between two and/or the agency of one.

Donna Pomponio is a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art and Design with
Distinction and Departmental Honors. An oil painter for nearly three decades she has
shown and sold her work in several galleries and venues around the Boston area,
Provincetown, and private collectors from the states and abroad. Most recently her
work was juried into a digital show at the Museum of Fine Art in Boston as well as the
current juried show at the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum show.
Following a recent three-year residency at The Commons studios, she keeps a
studio close by and is a year round resident in Provincetown, as well.
