Jessica Lee Douglas
I have been creating art for years in fits and starts. In 2022 I decided to make art a more central part of my life and Gallery Alto was born.
Goals:
To create uninhibited art that speaks to me and to others
To foster encouragement of other artists
To collaborate creatively
To find inspiration wherever it decides to appear
FULL BIO:
Jessica is a self taught artist who takes inspiration from her multi-faceted life. Often taughted as a Renaissance woman, she has been exploring art for many decades while moving her non-art life and career forward.
When not creating art in her free time, she practices the art of medicine in the Greater Boston area. She cares for and helps to diagnose children with complicated medical conditions through her expertise in genetics. Her work is challenging and rewarding and very cerebral in nature. It is very solutions focused and requires teamwork and precision. In order to exercise other parts of her brain, she looks to more creative outlets. In addition to Gallery Alto, she spends time as a chocolatier, combining artistry and her background in chemistry to create tasty edible art pieces which are always a hit at dinner parties.
Another constant source of inspiration are her two children who are amazing cheer leaders in her life. One wonderful thing about sharing a studio with kids is that much of what they are seeing is with fresh eyes. They have no pre-conceived notions and no inhibitions about saying what they think out loud!
Although she is a "new" artist on the scene, she hopes to contribute as much as possible to a community of creators as much as welcomes advice and mentorship. There are far too many inspirations in life to not help each other capture them in a meaningful way.
