Artist Statement:
I have been working with an abstract form from one of my earlier paintings. It could be
interpreted as a boat on the water or a bird in the sky. This made me consider creating more of these ambiguous shapes floating in a sea of blue, fog, or darkness. I think I'll call this series FLOAT or FLOW, so the shapes can symbolize whatever the viewer imagines - birds soaring in the sky or boats drifting in the harbor. For this next group of works, I'll play with my vibrant, Calder-esque abstract forms gliding, floating, and flying through a blue sea or dark sky. The wood grain showing through the colors will add a new energetic dimension that I hope to convey to the viewer.
