KEN LOCKWOOD
A SYNTHESIS OF CONCEPTS
The artist began painting at an early age looking toward the masters and drawn to impressionism. Early inspirations included Van Gogh, Monet, Gauguin, nature and the cosmos.
High school and painting teachers instilled the importance of discipline. Training in landscape, still life, figurative drawing and painting formed the genesis of the artist’s work which has evolved into it’s current state of being.
Currently the artist’s work is a synthesis of concepts.
-Energetic universal fields as landscapes.
-The human figure as constellations and cosmos.
-Juxtaposition of abstraction with representational form.
-Exercising the theory of “plasticity” as originated by Hans Hoffman, commonly referred to as “Push-Pull.”
