Valerie Isaacs holds a BA in Architecture from Penn State. She has worked as an artist since 1989; after living in Spain and in Charleston SC, she moved to Massachusetts in 1999 and to Provincetown in 2016. Isaacs trained in drawing and etching in Seville, and in painting at the Fleisher Art Memorial (Philadelphia, PA) and with Douglas Balentine (Charleston, SC). She teaches drawing, perspective, and landscape painting for adults. “I paint outside to observe light and weather change over several hours… experience of nature is intensified. I enjoy the array of shapes and geometric opportunities that man-made structures lend to a landscape painting. The ongoing dialogue between representation and abstraction makes Provincetown an exciting place to paint.”
