BOYBEACH FANTASY OBSCURING SEX, IDENTITY AND HEARTBREAK IN THE PROVINCETOWN LANDSCAPE.USING PERSONAL CONTENT AS THE SOURCE MATERIAL, LOSING THE FIGURES AND MEMORIES IN THE ROLLING DUNES THAT SO QUEERLY RESONATES WITH FALLING IN LOVE.
Joshua Wilmoth (1986, USA) currently lives and creates in Provincetown, MA. He is classically-trained, with degrees from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts as well as a graduate of the Alexander W. Dreyfoos High School of the Arts.
Through a diversity of media, his work is an exploration of the spaces between motion and stillness, often with a deeply sensual and emotional impact. With vibrant layering of color, he aims to create bold, whimsical narratives of the world around us, releasing us from the confines of the mundane. His work tends to gravitate towards the figurative, with common themes of fluidity, identity, and sexuality running throughout. Joshua’s work layers the visible surface with the undercurrent of constant and dynamic change, showcasing that there is always something new to see in the everyday world around us.
