Provincetown Arts Press announces upcoming events celebrating the release of Barbara E. Cohen’s Our Provincetown: Intimate Portraits and Broadsided Press: Fifteen Years of Poetic and Artistic Collaboration, 2005-2020

Three upcoming events in Provincetown in July 2022 will celebrate the release of the two newest titles from Provincetown Arts Press: Barbara E. Cohen’s Our Provincetown: Intimate Portraits and Broadsided Press: Fifteen Years of Poetic and Artistic Collaboration, 2005-2020, edited by Elizabeth Bradfield, Alexandra Teague, and Miller Oberman.

Cohen, Broadsided Press founder Elizabeth Bradfield, and contributing poets and essayists will read and sign books on Wednesday, July 6 at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum (460 Commercial Street) from 4–6pm, and on Thursday, July 7 at the Commons (46 Bradford Street), from 4–7pm. On Tuesday, July 19, Cohen will read and sign books at the East End Bookstore (389 Commercial Street) at 6pm. Books will be available for sale at all three events.

A first edition available in softcover and limited-edition hardcover, Cohen’s newest book of her signature painted Polaroids includes more than sixty original paintings by Cohen of Provincetown and the Provincelands, accompanied by essays from notable writers including Michael Cunningham, Kate Clinton, Nick Flynn, Alison Bechdel, Paul Lisicky, Marie Howe, Joey Soloway, David Dunlap, and many others.

An anthology that celebrates the power and synergy of poetry and art in public spaces, Broadsided Press: Fifteen Years of Poetic and Artistic Collaboration will inspire writers, artists, and all who seek ways to bring poetry and art to their communities. Featuring work by Jericho Brown, Douglas Culhane, Jill Ozier, Danez Smith, Joan Naviyuk Kane, Millian Gian Pham, Ilya Kaminsky, and more, the book includes fifty broadsides, fifty conversations about the nature of collaboration, and inspiring photos of words and art posted on streets and byways around the globe.
